Camp SUPERKIDS

June 28, 2015 - July 3, 2015

Camp Superkids is an educational and fun summer camp where children, ages 7-15, with moderate to severe asthma learn to better manage and control their disease.  We are looking for volunteer medical staff including providers, pharmacists, nurses, and respiratory therapists. The following opportunities are available: 
Lead Camp Physicians: 8-12 hour shift
Blue Line
The lead camp physicians include MDs or DOs who have expertise in treating pediatric asthma patients in their practice. The lead camp physicians will be present at various scheduled times throughout camp.  Primary duties include sharing rotating “on-call” responsibilities, providing and overseeing medical care, distributing medications and reviewing and resolving camper care concerns. A lead physician will be denoted on the schedule or available by phone if he/she cannot be present.

Camp Provider: 8-12 hour shift

Camp providers can include MDs, DOs, PAs and NPs and will be present at various scheduled times throughout camp.  Primary duties include sharing rotating “on-call” responsibilities, providing and overseeing medical care, distributing medications and reviewing and resolving camper care concerns. The camp provider will work closely with the scheduled lead physician.

Cabin “Nurses”: Full week/Half week/One Full Day (8:00 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.)
Blue Line
Nurses, nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists will work with a group of campers and function as their primary educator and health care provider.  As a member of the health care staff, the nurse/nurse practitioner/RT will also be required to work in the health services, support camp-wide activities, possible go on an overnight canoe/campout trip, and partner with the camp staff to accomplish camp program objectives.

Health Services: 8-12 hours shift
Blue Line
Nurses, nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists can staff shifts in health services – our 24-hour “clinic” on site at camp. Health services staff is responsible for triaging and treating campers, YMCA staff, and medical staff who come into health services for both asthma-related problems and other medical issues.
